Child Safety Standards
Last updated: 16 July 2026
SitChat has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. The app is for adults only. Suspected abuse is escalated to the relevant authorities within 24 hours. Safeguarding contact: safeguarding@shtchat.com.
1. Our standards
SitChat is operated by Sleeb Ltd, registered in England and Wales. We prohibit, without exception:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including text describing or soliciting it.
- Grooming — any attempt by an adult to build a relationship with a minor for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
- Sexualisation of minors, including fictional or "roleplay" content.
- Any attempt to identify, contact, or arrange to meet a minor through the service.
- Use of the service by anyone under 18.
Violation of these standards results in an immediate, permanent ban and, where the content may be illegal, referral to the authorities described in section 4.
2. An adults-only service by design
SitChat is rated 18+ on both app stores and is designed to be structurally hostile to grooming:
- Age gate — users must declare a birth year confirming they are 18 or over before the app will let them proceed. Accounts found to belong to minors are deleted.
- No images or video — chats are text only. There is no mechanism to send, request, or receive imagery on the platform.
- No searchable profiles, handles, or friend lists — before a chat you see only a temporary display name, avatar and age range that the other user chose. There is no directory: a stranger cannot search for, re-find, or maintain contact with the same person.
- Mutual opt-in — after a match you review the other person's chosen display name, avatar and age range and can Accept, Decline or Skip. A chat only starts if both people accept.
- Five-minute chat limit — every conversation ends automatically, preventing the sustained contact grooming depends on.
- Verified sign-in — every user authenticates with a Google or Apple account before chatting. Matches never see your account, email or real name, but it means banned users stay banned and offenders are identifiable to law enforcement.
3. Reporting
- In the app — every chat has a one-tap report button. Reports are triaged by a human, with a target response of under 24 hours for content that appears illegal.
- Outside the app — anyone, including parents, guardians, and teachers, can email safeguarding@shtchat.com. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
You do not need an account to raise a safeguarding concern by email.
4. What happens when we receive a report
- Reports are reviewed by a human moderator; automated filters additionally screen every message for prohibited content in real time.
- Offending accounts are banned immediately. Because sign-in is required, a ban persists across devices and reinstalls.
- Where we identify suspected child sexual exploitation or abuse, we escalate within 24 hours to the NCMEC CyberTipline and to NCA-CEOP (the UK National Crime Agency's child protection command).
- Evidence is preserved and not deleted before escalation, notwithstanding our normal 24-hour chat deletion policy, and is made available to law enforcement on lawful request.
- Every CSAE-related report and its outcome is logged for audit.
5. Compliance with law
We comply with the UK Online Safety Act 2023 and other applicable child safety laws in the regions where SitChat operates. Our risk assessments treat grooming and CSAE as the highest-severity harms and the app's design decisions above follow from them. We cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations.
6. Point of contact
Our designated child safety point of contact is reachable at safeguarding@shtchat.com. For matters unrelated to safeguarding, see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
