Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using ShtChat ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use ShtChat. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement. The App contains user-generated content and is recommended for users 17 and over.

3. The Service

ShtChat provides anonymous real-time text chat sessions between randomly matched users. Sessions are limited to 5 minutes. The service is provided "as is" with no guarantees of availability, uptime, or match quality.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use ShtChat to:

• Harass, bully, threaten, or abuse other users
• Send or solicit sexually explicit content involving minors
• Share personal information of others without their consent (doxxing)
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Transmit spam, malware, or malicious links
• Attempt to de-anonymise other users
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the service
• Interfere with the App's infrastructure or other users' access
• Engage in any activity that violates applicable law

Violation of these rules may result in termination of your access to the service.

5. User-Generated Content

You are solely responsible for any content you send via ShtChat. We do not pre-screen messages. By using the App you acknowledge that you may encounter content you find offensive or upsetting.

By sending content via ShtChat, you grant us a limited licence to store and process that content for the purpose of providing the service (e.g. delivering messages, generating AI audio if you choose to save a chat).

6. Content Moderation and Reporting

We provide an in-app reporting mechanism. Reports are reviewed on a best-efforts basis. We reserve the right to remove content and terminate user access at our sole discretion.

We are not obligated to monitor all content but will act on valid reports of illegal or abusive content.

7. AI-Generated Audio

When you opt to save a chat, your messages may be processed by ElevenLabs to create an AI audio file. By choosing to save a chat, you consent to this processing. The resulting audio is stored and accessible only by you.

8. Anonymity

ShtChat is designed to be anonymous. However, we cannot guarantee absolute anonymity. Do not share information in a chat that you would not want to be potentially associated with you (e.g. full name, address, phone number).

9. Intellectual Property

The ShtChat name, logo, and app design are our intellectual property. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works without our written permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShtChat shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. This includes, but is not limited to, damages from offensive user-generated content, service interruptions, or data loss.

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed £50.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ShtChat and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
